Tradition is honored to present the first CD of its series Archive Performances, dedicated to rescuing some of the best old recordings of compositions of the Argentine classic repertoire performed by remarkable musicians, by using a careful edition and digitalization work.

We intend to continue with these publications, with the support of LS1 Radio de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, who allow us to digitalize recordings of Argentine classical music from their files. We are interested as well as the Radio authorities in the restoration and preservation of this valuable national cultural heritage, that we shall progressively make available to the public in high quality compact discs.

This CD presents performances of piano works by Ernesto Drangosch and Celestino Piaggio from the LS1 archives and works by Manuel Gómez Carrillo incorporated based on recordings made privately by his family.

At the end of the 19th Century, an important musical activity began taking place in the Republic of Argentina, in terms of performance and composition, both regarding quantity and quality. This collection will disseminate the work of protagonists -many of them unfairly forgotten- who created the means necessary for the appearance of other internationally renowned figures as from the second half of the 19th Century, such as Alberto Ginastera, Martha Argerich, Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Kleiber and Daniel Barenboim among others.
